Dick's Sporting Goods, Paper Store open in Pittsford Plaza

Two new stores have opened in Pittsford Plaza, 3349 Monroe Ave., and a third

Two new stores have opened in Pittsford Plaza, 3349 Monroe Ave., and a third tenant is in the pipeline.

The Paper Store, a Massachusetts-based family-owned gift retailer, is now operating in a nearly 12,000-square-foot space on the southeast side of the plaza, next to Black & Blue Steak and Crab.

The chain, which has 100 stores throughout the Northeast and in Florida, sells home décor, stationery, giftwrap, jewelry and gifts. The Pittsford store offers ear-piercing, a children's play area and a candy station.

During a grand opening celebration Saturday and Sunday, June 10 and 11, 10% of sales will go to the Pittsford Education Foundation, and the first 100 customers each of day will get free gift cards and goodie bags.

The Netsin's ice cream truck will be on-site from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday.

On Wednesday, a Dick's Sporting Goods Warehouse Sale Store, specializing in deeply discounted sports and outdoor equipment and apparel, opened in 42,824 square feet of space above Century Liquor.

Wilmorite identified the store as a test site for Dick's, but a Wilmorite spokesperson said his understanding is that it is a permanent operation.

Dick's launched the warehouse store model in 2020, when retailers were faced with a build-up of inventory resulting from coronavirus-pandemic lockdowns, retaildive.com reported, although Dick's declined to comment on whether the pandemic influenced its decision to debut the concept.

In addition to those two retailers, Rochester Regional Health will open a women's health clinic in 8,000 square feet of space adjacent to Century Liquor. Services will include general and specialty gynecology and obstetrics. An opening date has not been set.

Meanwhile, the plaza's Chipotle restaurant will remain open, Wilmorite said, even as another Chipotle with a drive-thru pick-up window is coming to 2735 Monroe Ave., which is about a mile away.
